Listen everyone... And listen carefully... There's a webpage that can downgrade (opposite of upgrade) limewire... go to OldVersion.com... There you'll find all the old versions of Limewire :-)

Thanks for your reply.

I am very new to this but why would I want to use the old version when I have installed the new version and that doesn't work?

I have EXACTLY the same problem... So does my sister... I think it has to do with the latest version of Java... Because, everything ****ed up after I got that... Bearshare, Bittorrent, Limewire AND morpheus went bananas after Java got installed with the latest version...
Scary.........

Hi this is my first post. I hope I'm doing this correctly. I have used Limewire for a few years now. I currently have Limewire 4.10.0 PRO and Java 1.5.0_06.

I also have a Linksys router WRT54G3G, Norton Antivirus 2007 and Limewire is always allowed access.

my system is

OS: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
BIOS: Phoenix - Award BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+
Memory: 1534MB RAM
Page File: 431MB used, 2999MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

Limewire used to work absolutely perfectly, now it is stuck in connecting to network mode. please help. I'm getting desperate.

OK, I am new to the group.... HI GROUP! But I have, what appreas to be, a common problem. I cannot connect. Program loads fine - I have preferences set to connect manually, but the firewall icon shows and the "starting connect" never changes. Help!

Windows XP.

2. What firewalls you have?
MS Windows (disabled), Norton Internet Security (temporarily disabled)

3. How much ram?
512MB

4. Hard Disk space available?
60GB

5. Connection type?
cable,

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
Motrola SB5120: Linksys WRT54G-V5

7. Where are you trying to connect from ?
house

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have?
LW 4.16.7 PRO, Java 1.6.0_05

9. Who is your ISP?
Cox.net

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
It says Test Worked!
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
I am using the Linksys for a home LAN with a laptop, but the laptop does not have this software and is off most of the time.

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
I had an older version of LW and it worked fine.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
Yes
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?
UPnP is enabled

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall
I have MS Windows firewall disabled. I also have Norton Internet Security. I have tried running the program with this enabled and disabled.

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).
Good ol' USA

I solved this problem for just about a week ago.. It turned out to be that my ISP was blocking almost every port I had access to before..
So, double-check with your ISP's before doing anything..

(a) With Norton, you always need to re-add LW firewall rule (delete previous rule) when updating either LW or norton.

(b) With the WRT54G, they are a "lemon" in the respect their firmware has bugs and Linksys never repaired them all. It is best run in Port Forward. I would recommend you port forward it for this computer.
Most important step is step 1: Static ip for XP ______ 2. Find your model here PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall and find LW on next link and follow instructions.

(c) Cox have been known to be not especially p2p friendly, and have been known to block certain users using p2p programs.

(d) Make sure you use a different connection port from any other LW being used on the LAN network.
