I just got limewire for this new computer and at first it worked fine, but now it doesn't. I have the "only one green bar" connection problem. The message I get when I do a search for something says "LimeWire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network." Is there any known or popular fix to this?

I have Vista if that helps any. Thanks.

Still having problems connecting

Do I go to control panel and then go to add/remove programs, to delete documents(the place where you suggested)? Or do I delete the Limewire program and re-install? thanks.

I haven't heard from anyone on this site about my problem but I've read several others that are similar to mine. It seems that you need the following information to help. My system that I have is windows xp, I have microsoft windows firewall protection, 640 MB of ram,
my type of connection is dsl, my modem or router is
a westell versalink model 327W, I'm trying to connect from home, I have Limewire 4.12.11 and Java 1.6.0. And I believe the modem/router is UPnp enabled(not sure but think that is correct). I still am not able to connect due to firewall blocking me. Even after I disable my firewall, I'm not able to connect. Thanks for any assistance.

Connecting Only

Hi there, sorry to be one of the ones that this quick fix didn't work for, but its true. Here's an interesting twist to these connection issues. I have two computers connected to the same router with the same connection settings. One uses XP, the other 98. They both are connected to the internet through a cable modem, but only the 98 version will access Limewire while XP is not able to connect. While this is interesting its also frustrating since prior to my XP crash a couple months ago, i couldn't access the internet at all on the 98, but now it's got all connections after some minor tweaking. I even recovered the XP computer with original system disks removing SP2 because of firewall issues, but still nothing. I also tried ur latest step to delete the user files, but still no connections on the XP while my 98 is thriving with no probs. I even thought at one point that my ISP was blocking me until I got both computers running at the same time off the same line and only the XP system has connection issues and thats with the old 4.8 version as well as the latest 4.12 versions. Hope u can shed some light for me or better yet, on my XP :)

I wonder

Hm, dunno if this may work for some of you... But, it did for me. I currently have WindowBlinds installed on my comp aswell, so I right-clicked on the Bearshare icon and selected properties then disabled visual.

RodAlonzo Hi
Go Tools /Options /Advanced /Firewall Config & set Manual Port Faward with listening port & Manual Port Faward No's the same.
Use a number between 45000 To 65000 Don't use UPnP. click Apply!!
Then go to your other Computer, Do the same, But Set a differant Port Number
Then it should recognize both coms after a restart.
If your still having probs after that.
Use this link.

you mean delete the directory with all the limewire files and folders? wouldn't that render the program unusable?
