Auto connect

Tks,

I have disabled the "auto connect" option and will now go through the "If LW will not connect" process.

First, the "delete-the-pref-folder" advice did nothing for me.

Steps:

1) Launch Limewire. See the new "Tips" dialog box? DISABLE the show-tips-at-launch checkbox. Then click "ok" and hope you never see that box again.

2) Go to LimeWire Preferences and disable the auto-connect at launch option.

3) Quit Limewire. Then relaunch Limewire. Then manually "connect" from the menu. Voila!

I surmise that the new Tips box is interfering with the application's ability to connect!

Hi. You have to open Limewire, then at the top of the screen, click on Tools then go down and click on Options. Hope this helps!

Thanks. Did that and disabled the auto-connect...but still no luck.

I keep getting the message that LW is connecting to the network.

:-(

OK. Then you probably will have to delete your LimeWire folder if you have not tried that already. Here is what you do:

Go to your Start Menu.
Click on My Computer.
Double click on C drive.
Double click on Documents and Settings
Double click on the folder with your username
Double click on Application Data. Once you're in the Application Data, look for a folder named either .limewire or LimeWire. Delete that whole folder. Close all folders.

Restart your computer.

Start up LimeWire & see whether it will connect. It may ask you a couple of questions to get you started again. If Limewire connects, you're all done & you can go back through Tools and Options to set everything there back to the way you like it.

Hope this helps! It worked like a charm for me. Good luck! :rolleyes_2:

Keep in mind the Application Data folder is a Hidden folder. ;)
If it doesn't show up, see Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)
But LW MUST be ClOSED at that time. :)
