my server i emailed my server and they are blocking the gnutella because it's causing some problems for my phone company, is there any other way to connect so i can use my limewire again |
woked for me i have been having trouble reconnecting after i close limewire. these instructions fix my problem thank you |
lynne419 you pay for a service, & I'd complain that I was not receiving the service I was paying for. Anywhere in the company's fine print do they say they will block p2p use for any reason or any situations where they may limit services due to congestion? If not, then they have brought in limitations of their service without your knowledge or approval (& arguably a breach of their service contract with you.) You could suggest in one breath the possibility of changing providers, unless a solution could be found. But do it gently! Negotiate the matter. Do they also block net games & video conferencing? |
Hello all. I usually use my trusty Mac for Limewire but decidied to give it a try at work on a 2000 sys. Now I know my work has a firwall setup but I can't find any info about Win 2000. All the info I found is about XP. I can't connect to the Lime network and I do believe that the firwall is the reason. I'm afraid the data base here is a bit much for me to search through to find out if someone else has had the same problem or not. Are there any 2000 users on here who have experienced the same problem who might be able to help? Thanks in advance. |
Solo do this simple test & go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ It should say Test Page was a success. What happened when you went there? |
same old story HI, I have trouble connecting to LW. How surprising ! Have deleted preferences folder, have enabled ports in my internet connection advance folder, and restarted LW. I also set up my firewall exceptions, so that it allows LW to communicate with the net. it still does not work. I am speechless. thanks for you help. |
success successful test |
Connection problems I'm at uni so it could just be the university network that's the problem, but I'm only getting the "connecting" status and one green bar. Running OSX (jaguar) on 12" powerbook. Being a student you'd think I'd have the time to trawl the 38 pages of replies and find an answer, but it's exam season so I actually have to do work now :D Oh yeah, and on my old laptop Limewire definitely connected. Damn the (expletive) that stole my old laptop  |
Yes it could be the network. Go to http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ & tell us what happens. It should say Test page was a success. Uni's/colleges use different methods of blocking p2p use. eg: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...700#post114700 They also block particular apps or ports or only have a particular set of apps authorised to run on/thru the network. Which version of LW are U using? |
I'm using 4.2.6. and the test was a success. I know that the network is designed to block out Direct Connect, but that shouldn't be a problem because LW is on a different network to that of DC. |
