Lord of the Rings February 4th, 2005 04:54 PM

Well it's been said, in fact everything said many times over in this thread!!! How about this:
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version?
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram? 4. HDD space available?
5. Connection type?
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

Still can't connect

I have tried to locate the .limewire folder but there isn't one. I looked in my "Owner Folder" and it wasn't there. I even ran a search from the the start menu and the folder wasn't located. I downloaded the old version of Limewire and it worked fine. Then my comuter froze, so i rebooted. After that it hasn't opened. I then got the PRO version, and have never been able to run it. I am running Windows XP. N E Suggerstions?
-Thanks in advance

You could try: Fixes for Limewire

I hope you configured your firewalls to allow LW: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

"Connect" by any other name would smell so sweet

Read all your threads regarding firewall setup(completed), delete limewire subdirectory(done), even forced IP, however still not getting past the dreaded spinning Lime syndrome etc...:(

Quick test for port:6346 access came back with "Unable to display" response in browser.

ISP is Centurytel.net

System Info:
Windows XP Home w/SP1
Java 1.5.0
LimeWire 4.2.6

Dell Dimension 2400
Pentium 4
512 MB Ram
DSL = Westell WireSpeed Model B90

There seems to be a lot of traffic regarding the "connectionality" of this software and all the subsequent fixes.

Hi there,
I have read all of the

"cant connect posts" for the last 4 months or so. It seems I am having a similar problem to the rest of you. I am finding that when I log on it will not connect at all. It was fine when I first downloaded the program, so I deleted it and downloaded it again, It was fine and now is not connecting again. I have tried manually connecting, I have no files on there and no incomplete files. I know you asked a few questions like what connections I have etc. I am a dumbo at computers so there are only a few that I am aware of:

windows XP
512MB Ram
home use computer
dial up modem

I have also checked my firewalls

please can you help me out?

Lord of the Rings February 12th, 2005 04:52 AM

loz did you try the fixes above? Fixes for LW & deleting your LW Preferences folder? Try it! ;)

RevRocket: That test result is extremely poor news!!! It means that port 6346 is totally blocked! We can only hope that forwarding a port (opening port 6346) will fix this.

1. 1st you will need to set up a static ip. See instructions on 1st line of next page link: Port Forwarding Guides for the Westell 2200 Wirespeed B90

2. When you get to the port forwarding stage, use Port 6346

3. You have a choice of setting your force ip to auto or manual in the new version of LW. Force IP instructions & sample image But you said you've already done this.

Note: When doing port forwarding, you MUST have a static ip. This is crucial otherwise it won't work. Next time you log on your different ip will mean your port will be ignored if you have a dynamic ip. If mistakes are made most people make mistakes setting up the static ip so read the instructions very carefully! Good luck.
