As far as your zonealarm goes see this for configuring it to allow LW access (also for xp firewall): http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

lol :D Maybe! har har har lol But I've been happy with LW for a no. of years. Helping out on the forum now as a way of thanking them.

So you tried Fixes for Limewire & it didn't make any improvement for you? Try the Beta 4.3.2 http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml Many people have doubts about betas & me as well. But with the LW betas I've used every one since LW 4.1.4 & been satisfied with them. I think that's roughly close to 10 of them.

Give LW some time to connect & don't rush in & do things. But if you're not even getting started, then I'd suggest you do a system check. Clean up your system & your registry (but only if you know how or have a utility that can do it.) Defragment your HDD.

Last & least prefered option: Might I suggest you delete all the files in your incomplete folder & try again.

Another last resort is to use the international (multilingual) version of LW installer. It uses a different type of installer. But it forces LW to use Java 1.3 which is a little inadequate in many cases.

That is strange. Sometimes some people's systems prefer the Java 1.4.2 as compared to the Java 1.5 Some other people have also experienced the same thing in recent months. They come from 2 different companies.

Java version 1.4.x OR version 1.5 (take the JRE)

Hi, I use LimeWire Pro 4.2.6 on Mac OS X 10.3.7. I had been using LimeWire successfully until about a week ago. Then, one day LimeWire Pro started to quit right after initial process. (LimeWire window won't open.) I tried deleting Preference files method. It didn't work. However I can start LimeWire Pro 4.0.6 (Mac OS 9) without any problem. I tried LimeWire 4.2.6 (for OS X but non Pro version). It didn't start, either.
I'm puzzled???

I can't seem to connect to limewire with my laptop even though my desktop is handling it fine. It just says connecting in the corner no matter how long i'm on. I think part of the issue might be with my router and part with the firewall. Any help would be appreciated.

Win XP HE with SP2
30 Gig HD
Lynxsys Wireless G with speedbooster
Zone alarm pro
limewire pro 4.2.6

Guest0007: You probably do need port 6346 to be opened on your modem. So far as your modem/router goes it's difficult to say b/c I don't have a model no. However, if you look at the bottom of this page you'll be able to see several models & one might be or fit yours as far as instructions go. 1st you'll need to set up a static ip for it to work properly. http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm

Other instructions may help: Setting up a static ip for Linksys & for port forwarding THIS might help

If you're using LW 4.2 or earlier then refer to this: Force IP instructions & sample image or otherwise if you have LW 4.4 you can try leaving it up to LW to try to configure the best firewall setting. Else try the 2nd option & use port 6346.

I presume you configured both your firewalls(XP & Zonealarm) for LW's access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml
