When you say that you can't open LW I presume that you mean
it wont open when you click on the LW icon on the desktop
- if so
It sounds like you reinstalled LW straight over the top of an old version
without deleting the old version first -- try this

Note - this is for win XP SP2 operating system

(1) Uninstall the old version of LW before installing the new

Uninstall Limewire by using LW uninstall program not the add/remove control panel

Start -> All Programs -> Limewire -> Uninstall

(2) Delete the old LW folders from the Programs directory before installing the new version

v c:\Program Files\Limewire <--- (delete this folder)

(3) Download/Install new version of LW
