Default help pleasefirewall question

Hi I have been a long term LW user and I have recently had to replace my mother board and HDD due to some problems I had and now I cannot connect to LW.

I was able to do so prior to the rebuild and have not changed my anti-virus or modem or ISP.

I have checked that I have the exceptions are right and have tried the Java,, remove .limewire file etc. and still no LW. I have the bricks in front of the globe even though Norton has LW as set to allow and windows firewall is disabled.

I am not too sure about my system configurations as I am better at driving this thing than quoting the specs

Please help!!

Craig

I have tried the first and third options there with no success, That second one is very confusing. I got lost almost straight away. I dont understand what I am supposed to do there?

I think it will be easier to forget all about it, I was enjoying downloading from LW too, Bloody computers

I had another look over the second link there and I have absolutely no idea what any of it means.

Is this the only way to fix this problem because I only have my antivirus firewall and xp firewall and when both are disabled, I still have the firewall icon in LW?

Craig

Port Forwarding is only necessary if you have a modem router (modem with a built in router) or a router. You see, routers have a built-in firewall and, in most cases, the only way a P2P app can find it's way through a router is via this "port forwarding" configuration exercise.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any "Jack and Jill" type instructions or guides that can teach you about "port forwarding". All I can really suggest is that you contact your modem-router's (or router's) help desk and ask if they have any user-guides you can download on "port forwarding".

Good Luck.

I used to use a modem router before I went with cable, now using a motorola sbg900 wireless.

So it probably wont fix my problem altering the port forwarding option.

So now that should not be the problem anyway because I was using this setup which worked fine prior to the pc rebuild.

Bloody gremlins huh?

Any other suggestions most welcome.

Have you tried this: (by jeremiah24) Open Limewire: go into tools/options/advanced/network interface/ then click the box that says use a specific interface, then scroll down and make sure you put a dot in the circle beside your IP address underneath your network connection.....for me it says Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network ...... (most likely this circle already has a dot in it) but if it doesn't then you'll want to click it.

I see you failed the the test in system details (para 10) which is a bit of worry -- this could mean that yr firewall/router is not configured correctly or yr ISP is blocking limewire -- have you contacted yr ISP to find out -- also pse check this link out by LOR (norton internet security)
