You have to be on an administrator account to uninstall. And yes, just a completely normal non-run as admin uninstall. If you still don't get it, then I give up and will leave LOTR at your mercy once again. |

Windows Which should I choose? Windows 7, XP Offline (32-bit) filesize: 16.0 MB Instructions Verify Now Windows 7, XP Offline (64-bit) filesize: 16.1 MB After installing Java, restart your browser and verify Java has been installed correctly. |
You can see in your control panel under "system" if you have 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) operating system. But I suspect 32-bit will work on all, while 64-bit will only work on 64-bit. |
I can't get LOTR's link to work, it say it "timed out" and the link you gave me leads to a page that says copy the link below which takes me back the page I was on. Now what? |
When nothing display properly for one person and works for everyone else it can only be one reason. Something is wrong with your computer. Maybe a scareware infection building itself up. Try using another browser or two e.g. FireFox or Chrome or Internet Explorer and see if the links display properly. LOTR's link is a direct download, while mine is a huge list of almost all Java versions. Also please take a screenshot of the page you see when you visit the link I posted and upload it somewhere. Then post it here using URL tags or the insert image button. Apart from that, definitely scan your computer, because something is rotten in the state of Denmark. |
I had the Java SE 1.7 SDK/JRE installed which came with the Android SDK install. I uninstalled 1.7 and reinstalled 1.6. LimeWire is working fine now. But now what about my Android SDK? |
Seems I made a mistake. :o I did not realise I still had Java 1.6 on my Windows 7 system & that is what LW was using. Seems LW will not run with Java 7 (1.7). It's not normally recommended to have more than one version of Java on your system. However, it is possible. But I'm not sure if this will affect Android SDK with Java 1.6 JRE still on your system. After I uninstalled Java 1.6, LW stopped running & reinstalling 1.7 made no difference. But after reinstalling Java 1.6, LW works fine. Still with Java 1.7 on the system. The present Java 1.7 version has not yet been made the official general release version. I believe Java JRE 1.7 is basically still in beta mode and may be missing some abilities. The sub-version starting with b is suggestive of a beta version. |
Lord of the Rings, I can't get LimeWire to run. I have both JRE 1.7.0_1 AND 1.6.0_27 installed. But LimeWire complains: LimeWire Launcher Error LimeWire needs Java Runtime Environment 6.0 or above ... I have tried uninstalling JRE 1.7 altogether, but same error. I suspect that the LimeWire application is searching in the wrong path for the java installation, but how do I fix that? How did you get it to work with both 1.7 and 1.6 installed? I have both LimeWire and the Java installation in their default directories, namely C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre... and C:\Program Files (x86)\LimeWire This problem is ridiculously irritating. (I did not think I have to register for these forums, but since I'm here, hello :) Please share your insight. Thank you. :) |
Seems LimeWire will not run with the present version of Java 1.7. I am not sure how you change path to find Java 1.6. Via the Java control panel it is possible to set which java version is the main one. I am guessing you are using Windows 7 by the looks of it. You do need to set the Java 1.6 to Run as Administrator. You can do that with the Java installer or find the appropriate Java.exe file. |
