did you repaired permissions of your harddisk in disk utility? (you should with every update).

Ciao

Yes I did a disk permissions repair and I just did another one - still no LimeWire. Now also Noton Antivirus will no longer update but gives me an error message (I will contact them today) . I'm at a loss. I may have to reinstall the entire OS. Ironic this happening with the 10.3.9 update only weeks before the release of Tiger. I was perfectly happy with 10.3.8 and had ZERO problems!

I just noticed that some files in the Java142Update2 have older creation dates and sometimes different byte amounts than the ones installed on the HD. Should the installed files be replaced by the older ones?

I replaced some files keeping the replaced files in a folder on the desktop for safe-keeping. I also ran a virus scan and found a few! So.........EVERYTHINGS WORKING NOW!
I thank you.

Hey Reesho I've got the same prob. Done the update to 10.3.9, done the java and security updates... still quits at "loading html". Aaarrrrgggghhhh... I can't cope without Limewire.
Tis driving me nuts. There's got to be something else to try. I also have done permissions, just a matter of course really.

Unfortunately since it's been awhile now I no longer have the folder with the files in it that I replaced so I can't tell you exactly what they were. I'm not even sure if it was that that helped. I did run a virus scan as I said and found a few. I was doing a lot of brain surgery in the system files and replacing outdated or inconsistently dated files. There's gotta be a well know fix for this though. If I remember something else I'll post back. Good Luck.

None of these fixes works for me - Help

I have done all this @$%*( and still Limewire crashes on startup, just as described. I ran the 10.3.9 Java installer, ran the old security update, checked my permisssions. Nothing still crashes at statup why?

i am having the same problem as reesho.
i followed the steps suggested in this forum and still my limewire will not move passed the HTML engine...stage.
i also followed the java updated suggested by apple.com which too was to no avail.
as a note, i only use Limewire basic(free version) and was wondering if anyone has overcome the 10.3.9 problem without the use of Limewire Pro?

similar probs

I've followed the instructions for the workaround, but I can't resolve this issue either.

Attempting to replace the update is blocked as I get an error message stating that the Java doesn't need to be replaced on this machine. Deleting the existing file doesn't help either.

Can anyone advise about a manual workaround where we can remove the updates and then reinstall?

Try this: Double-click the harddrive icon, open the Library, open the Receipts folder, then find the file: Java142Update2, delete it and try again. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html or you could apply it to the JavaSecurityUpdate4 & reinstall that one. I'd try the other 1st. Receipts folder sample image
