Mac OS 10.3.9 update breaks limewire?

Just installed the Mac OS 10.3.9 update.

Limewire now will not start up.

I went and downloaded the most current version of limewire, did a fresh install of it.

And still, limewire will not start up.

Anyone know of this, anyone else have the same problem?

Any fixes?

Thanks.

Yes--it has been noted on a number of forums.

Looks like the easy fix, credited to kc8apf http://forums.macrumors.com/showthre...61#post1389161 , is to reinstall the second last security update--the one with all the java parts

http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...34orlater.html

If the security update won't install, just move the SecUpd2005-002Pan.pkg receipt out of the hard drive /Library/Receipts folder and try again.

Limewire OS10.3.9 fix

Yes, thanks very much! I would've never figured this out if it hadn't been for the forum.

Many thanks for your help. Excellent forum.

Ooops--don't credit the messenger ;) but also good to see that the OS X crowd does show some appreciation. Hope Apple listens to the forums and mailing lists and quits breaking java.

The real credit for getting word out about the fix goes to et voilą, the Appleforums, and above all "kc8afp" from macrumors who had the message out much earlier.

btw--did anyone have to do the receipt delete in order to install the update?

For the record, Apple has officially noted the use of the security update as a fix http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301380

cheers all--hope the sharing is going well.

Hi. I'm the poster who started this thread.

I'd like to thank y'all very much for the help. Very appreciated! And I had noticed a bunch of other Java related problems even after I'd started this thread... so I'm thrilled for the fix.

As per the instructions, went and got SecUpd2005-002Pan.dmg from the apple site and installed it. No problem with install, and I did *not* have to go get the abovementioned reciept out of the library and remove it.

Very simple. Just ran the 002 installer.

All the Java problems dissapeared.

Cool. Good fix.

Thank you!

OS X Limewire stopped working

Limewire has suddenly stopped working!
I have reinstalled, removed preferences and even paid $18.00 for new download and still no luck.
I am a great fan of limewire so really not happy.
Please help.

Please be WAY more specific than it "stopped working"!

I'm glad this solution in this thread worked for so many, but as for myself, I've had no success so far with the reinstallation of the said security updates SecUpd2005-002Pan.dmg or JavaUpdateMacOSXv10.3.9.dmg. I've done all the trash preference things. I'll keep trying of course in case I did something strange along the way but at this point for the record, LimeWire still just won't boot in 10.3.9 for me. Right now it hangs at "Loading HTML Engine..." stage. Sometimes it doesn't even get that far. Reinstalled LimeWire several times etc. etc.....
