![]() I am new and yes I know this may seem like a repeat of other posts however it is not. Hello to all, as this is my first post it is unfortunate it is for a problem. For some time now (and several updates) I have had this issue where my menus have no content. What I mean is when I right click, or hit File or for the purpose of auto completing search terms... and many other features. I have no idea what is in those boxes. I do know from memory what some things are and so I have been using LW like this for a good while. I am posting several screen shots below so those who are interested can see exactly what I am talking about. A note... I have read the previous posts and have followed said solutions to no avail. Basically, deleting everything and starting over did not work and yes I did it as per the instructions (Exactly). Oh and yes I tried messing with the compatibility modes with similar ends. So if it's not Java or LW or both what is it? Thanks to all who can ...or can't help ![]() Screen shot 1.jpg - Windows Live Screen shot 2.jpg - Windows Live Screen shot 3.jpg - Windows Live Screen shot 4.jpg - Windows Live Screen shot 5.jpg - Windows Live |

![]() Which version of LW 5 are you using, which version of Java & which OS? Have you tried reverting to an earlier Java version to see whether that helps? You can find a list of earlier Java versions here: Archive: Java[tm] Technology Products Download See whether going back an update or two has any effect. Choose an older update from the JRE 6 list. In the past, some people have have had issues with the current version of Java, whereas an older version works just fine ![]() Last edited by birdy; August 9th, 2010 at 02:15 AM. Reason: Clarifying which version (JRE 6) to choose from. |

![]() Drewskie I could be wrong but I am guessing that your screen resolution is not high enough. Before doing any reinstalling or uninstalling just try setting your video resolution settings to a higher resolution, something like 1024 x 768 or higher, if that does not work then no harm done just reset to your previous settings. ![]() No dice on the resolution front... As for my details here they are. Before I go and uninstall (again) Please bare in mind my details ![]() Os: XP SP3 LW: 5.5.13 Java: Version 6 update 21 (build 1.6.0_21-b07) If there is anything else you want to know to help let me know As for java I don't think I can downgrade because there are certain programs that require the most recent Java |

![]() 2.5 gb of ram, more space than i can shake a stick at lol about 14 out of 39 gb free. as for selecting and then re selecting the issue is this. for the menues at the top "file, view ect" it will work where i select and then reselect but for everything else it does not work. and to be honest that trick doesnt always work for the file, view ect. I followed the other posts suggestions on uninstalling and reinstalling to no success. I am confused because this has been going on for a while. ![]() |

![]() Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included 2nd last post of page.) But back up your downloads.dat file so your previous incomplete files history are safe. |

![]() Ok so for some reason the problem corrected itself. at the same time i reinstalled java i reinstalled flash and when i erased them both i ran a registry clean. Keep in mind i did this before but only for java. So I did both this time... and all of a sudden my menus were sort of working... (i would hold the menu open for several seconds and the contents would appear. Then i went back and tried all of the troubleshooting you guys listed in other posts and voila changing compatibility mode to windows 2000 finished off the fix. For those of you guys that are newbies or even seasoned vets, a word of caution. The older your computer the more crap is in there hiding and gumming up the works. I used to reformat once a year to wipe the slate clean and start fresh... After 5 years my old machine is due for retirement I think. Thanks to all for the help it is greatly appreciated. ![]() |
