Limewire unexpectedly quits Basicly LW unexpectedly quits randomly i have not been able to link it to anything i am running OS 10.3.2 this has happened when there are no other programs running it happens most when it is on screensaver but not always can anyone help me? |
Can you run System Preferences->Software Update? Currently 10.3 is at 10.3.5 Follow that with a safe boot (hold down the shift key on a system restart), repair permissions using Disk Utility, and restart again. |
reply to stief i just checked again and found that i was looking at the wrong number i am definatly running 10.3.5 and have been for a while i also repaired permissions just a short while ago (bout a week) the problem has been occuring efore and ater that |
A down & under mun. lol Screensavers were notorious for causing problems on macs in the past. But for OSX I'm not sure. Personally I can't afford to have mine set to auto start b/c of video processing I do. So if I leave my comp, I turn the monitor off. Make sure you have the most recent version of Java. Restart you comp doing a Safe start & repair permissions using Disk Utility. It's generally wise to repair permissions after installing new softw. See: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...6094#post96094 (permissions) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...3462#post93462 Are you attempting to use LW in the Classic environment? Not very wise to. How much ram do you have? Unfortunately, java for Mac is not very ram efficient & arguably has a bit of a memory leak. |
Oh how many threads have you got going here, lol. I've combined them! |
i have the latest version of java and i have 256 built in and 512 extra ram |
no not trying to use LW in Classic and i checked (ran software update) and i have Java 1.4.2 installed just going to repair the permissions again then ill get back to you by the way G4 power book 1.33 Ghz 256 RAM built in and 512 extra |
Follow LOTR's links to get info on the safe boot. If you open Console (it's in your Utilities Folder), the next time LW crashes you should see an error report there. Either message one of us with the log, or just post the first few lines here. btw--your machine should have logged all those previous crashes: you can view them with Console's File->Open Quickly and look for CrashReporter |
