Skins

I would like to ask if it would be possible to create a skin for limewire that looks like the Napster Skin, I like the look of napster but i dont like the program, if limewire had a skin you could download that looked like the napster layout it would be great. Just a suggestion though. Thanks.

Yellow line at top of search, might be nice for new users, but most people must know where to find LW homepage to get fresh download of LW. Or is 4.12.11, I try now intended for VISTA users who by now getting useed to restrictions?

Taking advantage of what you're sayin' about Vista, rumors say that Ms addopted P2P tech for the sending files on LAN's

I'm relatively new to P2P, some of these ideas I've noticed have already been listed. For one, 'Limit number of slots a particular file can take'. I noticed that was on the 'list' since 2004? Moments after downloading a 'gem', a 600+ meg file, 15 users were instantly downloading it. Since this is a several hour u/l, everything else I have was basically unavailable. This one feature, or lack thereof, has made getting this file, and others like it, a real problem as very few hosts want to dedicate their systems to this one file for 1/2 the day per user of what will end up taking several weeks until this file gets around. But no one wants to host it for this reason, It is probably one of the most important features that desperately needs implementation. IMHO

As a result, this and many others like it, are rare finds. What's more, not a single Limewire user was connected. Bearshare, Snaz-illa (?), morp-somthing was scarfing up all my bandwidth. All of their clients were like sticky magnets, I'd kill their uploads and they would almost instantly re-connect. I was happy to see that even though I selected this file as no longer share-able, it allowed the uploads to continue until finished. It really irked that I couldn't browse any of their systems, so how could they see mine?

No, but perhaps a 'Reserve ___ slots for Limewire Users: (0-15)' 15 means you'd only let Limewire users connect.

No, that's a programmers question for sure ;-) (and I resemble that remark). If you get a particular version that works, the features or options you use work well, leave well enough alone. You shouldn't force people to upgrade to what may be a buggie version just to get a slot.

No. About the time I get to Ultrapeer status, Windoze locks up and I have to reboot, forcing me back to leaf.

Good idea. Share and share alike.

Hmmm, this would be tricky. Some files are rather large, besides if there are u/l slots available, does it matter? Maybe he'll keep the files 'shared' and get more hosting,

Just a few first-timer rambings, ignore if needed.

Password Required

Is it possible to set up a password to log into the Limewire program?

For those of us who have kids who should be doing their homework and not messing around on the computer downloading music, etc. it would be nice to have a log in to access this program.

Kind Regards

Allow disabling of torrent handling

I appreciate that a lot of requests for the inclusion of torrent support have been acknowledged and that the feature has been added. However, I am someone(and I am sure there are plenty more like me) that prefers to use another dedicated torrent program that delivers significantly better results. I love using LW for certain things but I think it would also make sense to allow the torrent handling function to be enabled/disabled.

The main reason I say this is because LW keeps steeling the default setting away from my other program(uTorrent). If it were enabled by default at install, but then had a disable function, this would keep everybody happy.

Thanks and keep up the great work.

I would really love an option to filter out certain file formats in the Search engine. For example, I don't have Quicktime installed on my computer and really don't intend to. I'd love to be able to exclude all Quicktime files when I do a search. They just clutter up my options.

Hi Alkuna,
You can add mov files to your keyword filter...they won't appear in your search results any more;) You can do the same for any extension that you don't want to see!
Check the threads below for more info & tips about using the filter.
