Perhaps downgrade until another LW 5 version comes out. Your problem has me stumped. Is there any security programs such as spyware or such that may need LW to be put on its safe list. Something is obviously clashing or not working.

I presume you have lots of ram, lots of spare hard disk space, hard disk drives that are defragmented? Do you defragment your drives occasionally?
A program I like to use is Crap Cleaner which helps clean the system of unnecessary registry rubbish & old version program parts that only cause to be a problem.
