Unconnected

I am another frustrated user. Limewire is very inconsistent. At times it works great and then there are days, weeks, even months that it won't work. I always update with the newest versions. I always read the forum. I always follow the steps they say to follow and still NOTHING is working. I have deleted all preferences. I have done it all and still nothing. I wish they could leave Limewire alone when it's working and stop messing it up for us. Please let me know when it works!!!

I dream of green!

I purchased LW pro two months ago (twice - as the first one didn't work!). In that time I've managed to connect for maximum one hour. I have tried every single suggestion mentioned here with very little success. The only time I manage to connect is when I have explorer and LW open at the same time and sometimes after surfing the internet for a while and with LW open at the same time I can connect up and even then very rarely and not for long. I am running OSX 10.2.7 and am becoming very frustrated. Help anyone?

I have OS XP and I have disabled tips at start up. worked once, then lost the connection in the middle of downloading. I do not have limewire in your_documents folder. So what now?

I completely exited LW, even sys tray icon. Went to add/remove and completely deleted it from my system. OH, PS before I did this, I did a search all files & folders, and found NOTHING! The reason it wasn't showing up in 'your_documents', I discovered, was that when I installed it both the first and second time, I opened and ran it from it's current location, I did not save it to disk. I re-installed it and now connecting is 'flighty'. it will connect for a few minutes, then go off, then automatically comes back on within a few minutes. Even when I am not connected, I still see the downloads in progress??? Well, I'll give it a few more days and hope it works. I know the admin. and mods. are doing all they can, but...
As far as purchasing the pro version, I DON'T THINK SO! I read on here where someone purchased it twice to try to correct the problem. (Boy, they saw you comming!) I'll keep my $20.00 and just go purchase a CD. Good luck!

almost-freeze on connect

Hi,

I'm using MacOS 9.2.2 and tried the latest beta version of LW as well as the official latest release. The beta doesn't run at all, the official release starts up and kind of freezes.

When I start up LW, it loads until it arrives at "core components". From there, is takes forever. After a while, I managed to load LW (took me 20 minutes) and turn off "conntect on startup". This prevented LW from freezing when arriving at "core components". However. as soon as I choose Connect from the file menu, it freezes again. It takes almost all CPU time and hardly allows any user input. The computer hardly responds to mouseclicks, LW doesn't respond at all.

Not being able to solve the problem, I decided to install old versions of Java and LW and installed several versions that used to work perfectly in the past. They just don't work anymore!

I had to reinstall LW because I had to reinstall the entire Mac for different reasons.

Reading the posts here, I get the impression that those who solved their problem have no understanding of what they did. They just kept trying until LW somehow worked again. I am looking for real solutions from people who know what's going on. Even if you don't have a solution but know why it doesn't work, I'd appreciate your explanations. I believe, I have tried everything by now.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Read the "Why Does LimeWire Seem Slower?" sticky post in the Mac OS forum and follow the instructions to edit the limewire.lax file. Let me know if that has any effect. Thanks.
