Thank you - I've been pulling my hair out for 3 days with 1-2 minute connections then down again. I'm on windows xp and I followed your directions exactly and everything is good again.

Can you be a little more specific? Please supply as many details you can such as comp type, os 9.?, Java version, connection type & what your prob is & any particular details that might help us to help u to solve it. Explain what you do in detail & what happens. My 1st suggestion is to update to the latest Java for os9: for 9.2.2 that's http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120209 & for other os9's: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75097 LW runs on Java & Java is an imperfect softw. The mac version has always had some issues.

Do you have any forced resume files? The reason I'm asking this is b/c these files will be constantly sending out searches for sources every few mins. Whilst it can be effective, if you have a very large quantity of them, it can fill up your upld bandwidth (particularly until they've all given up their searches) which 'can' play havoc with your connection quality. If you do reply back & I'll explain how to overcome it (it's a painful thing to go thru.)

eatartichokes007, are you using OS X's built-in firewall? (I know for sure Panther has one, but can't remember for Jaguar and am not ready to go back to it just to check it out).

hmmm...forced resume file...

my firewall is on. i am not sure what a forced resume file is. how do i find out if i have forced resume files? i'm not fantastic with computers so you'll have to sort of guide me through this. thanks very much for your help!

If your firewall is on then that's the highly probable reason you're having difficulty connecting. Forced resume is when you press the Resume button (particularly from the Lib window ha the worst effect.) Force resume: Initially those files will be queud for a long time, if they connect then good but for the others: then Waiting # amount of secs for Sources (it sends out searches every few mins over a period of time), & ends up as Awaiting Sources if it can't locate enough sources to dwnld from. This 'can' not only effect your connection but it's also not healthy for the network b/c it floods it with continual searches. I don't believe this is your problem however. Murasame will be best to guide you thru the firewall issue.

I recently ran Yahoo Anti-Spy on my computer and it listed LimeWire as adware. So I uninstalled LimeWire and went back to my old link and downloaded it again and reinstalled it. But now when I double click on the desktop icon nothing happens. The same thing happens when I try and open it any other way. Please help!!!!!!!!red
