thanx birdy, running xp and now im stuck:bangh:, i went to C:\documents & settings\user\application data\frostwire. easy enough but now how do you open gnutella.net with a text editor??

Lord of the Rings November 20th, 2006 12:42 PM

Open your text editor, drag & drop the document onto the text editor in the tray. Else, drop it onto the empty document the editor has open.

1st & foremost, you must find your FrostWire preferences folder; How to find your FrostWire Preferences folder (that link is how to delete them but it also shows how to find them!) Then open this folder & you will find the gnutella.net file inside. Drag & drop it onto a notepad empty document to open it. Then make the changes. Save the file. You must only do this whilst the FrostWire program is CLOSED!!!

I suddenly couldn't get other p2p software to work. Bearshare/bearflix both allowed me to search but i couldn't get any connections. they both also had less files suddenly available (even no longer listing stuff that i'd recently downloaded). I tried limewire, which i used to use before finding bearshare. Same problem... nothing connects. I can search all i want, but download nothing. (btw, most the idiots on the lw forum are convinced that it's a fake file issue). I haven't tried frostwire yet, but shareaza works just fine. If suddenly all the gnutella networks started acting screwy, could it be an issue with the networks? it seems strange that all of the sudden, a whole bunch of people are all having the same problem with different software at the same time. I hadn't downloaded anything for several weeks, so my bs/bf problem may have been going on longer than i have realized. Any thoughts on this?

See Charter listed here ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

We've been getting a lot of Charter customers coming here complaining of the same thing.

I have been having the same problem. I have tried multiple p2p software's and all end up the same. It always says "enabling open information sharing", and I can no longer download anything when I used to be able to a week ago. A few posts ago, someone mentioned they are going to fix the connection issues. Is this correct?

If you've been downlding & uploading heavily then perhaps your ISP has decided you're doing too much. I do know Cox does this on specific users. They are reknown for doing this; find them on the list here ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

If you follow the directions earlier in this thread then it should work on condition that Cox is not shaping/blocking your use of FrostWire. There's a more thorough change to make to the file in question if you see et voila's Sticky thread near the top of this FrostWire forum section. ;) :)

Ya, I have done everything the sticky's said, and that helped it connect, cause now I have full green bars, but it still says it cannot sources when I try to download and it still says "enabling open information sharing" at the top tool bar. I do have Cox, but I have only download about 20 things in about the 2 weeks I have had it, and I have a friends that have Cox and can still download. How can I find out if the block p2p on my ip? Thanks.
