Didn't fix the problem. My connection gets strong, I do a search, no results, and the connection dies. |
Wow!!!! it worked. I didnt realize in how many places Limewire was. It was a little difficult removing the jar but with persistance it worked. I had to put all the files into the recycle bin do some restarts but it worked. I then made sure Limewire did not start automacticly I even turned my firewall on but allowed Limewire. It is great. This computer I can burn without problems, so when I lost my ability to use it wow what a mess. No more "firewall" preventing me. Thank you so very much... I didnt believe it until I tried it. I think the other limewires were also causing a conflict?? Make sure you check your entire computer for any leftover files and it should do well. |
woohoo, thanks! Just wanted to say a huge thank you! Spent the past 3 hours racking my brain and pulling hair trying every connection problem fix I've seen, and this is the one that worked! *grins* thanks =) |
Help. I´ve Got Vista Basic. I Am Unable To Find The Folder Documents And Settings To Delete The Preferencies! Anyone Can Help? Thanx A Lot. |

Preference folder in vista is found here C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire ß(Preference Folder) Click on this link to show hidden files in vista LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista NOTE: The limewire folder is also called the preference folder -- delete the limewire folder |
KL: go back and make sure you checked everywhere for Limewire files, if you leave even one and upload it will cause a conflict and not work correctly. Are you sure that all the bars on the bottom and to the left are hindered by a firewall? They should all be green. Mine reacted the same way. |

But yeah, the bars are green, and sometimes there's a brick wall infront of the globe, other times not. However, when it was working properly for me, there was still a brick wall infront of the globe. What a fickle program. |
Did all that, reinstalled, the whole bit. I'm still getting nowhere. |
I think you still have a conflict there. Check in the owners documents and check in the programs file. I had to move mine by putting everything into the trash. I removed it in my computer with the remove/add but there still lingered files. You need to go to windows explorer and check all your files, just to be sure something is not hiding on you. Believe me I bet there is still one hiding. Your having the same problem I had until I found that last file group. the extension was jar. It was the hardest to get rid of. After deleting I did a shut down of the computer and waited just a bit, then restarted. Doubled checked to be sure everything was gone. Then I reinstalled Limewire and it worked just fine. Also make sure you do an allow this in the firewall and it should be fine. But you really need to make sure there is no sign of Limewire and do the restart before reinstalling. ok. try it. |
oh, I noticed you said the "gnutella.net file" no, once you delete out everything just reinstall the Limewire as if it were new to your computer. Just go to download and click. |
