If i uninstall Linewire and re-install it to correct a connection problem, will I lose my entire library of saved audio files? Can anyone help me with this?

Have you changed the location of your saved folder at all?

Providing you haven't been saving files to within LW's program files (C:\Program Files\LimeWire) then you shouldn't lose anything. Some people mistakenly save their downloads within Program Files & in that case, uninstalling LW will mean that downloads are lost. It's also a bad idea to save files within C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\LimeWire... because deleting LW's preferences folder would delete downloads as well.

To check where your files are being saved, in LW go tools > oiptions > saving. You'll see the location of your saved folder there.

It's always a good idea to back up your files, just in case of a system crash or other tragedy;)

OS X:
/Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

Windows:
C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire

Linux:
~/.limewire

Please shutdown any instance of LimeWire you may have running, delete the whole directory, and then restart LimeWire. You should be able to connect.

I'd love to hear how this works for everyone.

Thanks!

Depends on which operating version you are using & which LW version you started with. If you started with a version of LW over past 2 years, then the folder is now called limewire not .limewire. :)

(a) Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) (b) If using Vista then see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html

I suspect chances are the problem is more than your preferences folder but a firewall somewhere. Provide all these details & this may help us to pin point the probable problem: System details - help us to help you (click on blue link)

I cannot connect either, I've checked my security settings and all are ok, But i did see something about the Java platform, the newest upgrade is 1.6.0_10 do you suppose this has something to do with the problem
