need help!

i have read through this forum and tried every tip that i could find. im using windows xp and i dont mean to repeat what has already been said but i was downloading fine from limewire and suddenly it wouldn't work anymore. I have tried deleting the .limewire file and i disabled tips and i changed to manual connection. i also tried switching off all firewalls but yet limewire still is detecting one blocking the connection. my firewall setting are definitely set to allow limewire to function. i would be very grateful if anyone out there can help! when it did work for me, i loved this site and really want to get it back up running again! really dont want to let ludite tendancies take over with me!
thanks in advance!

What are your details?

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

Double check your firewall (only run one at a time), there's a link here
Connection problems? Check here first!
Do the port test & see what result you get (link in thread)

I think that Clearwire is your problem

You could try changing ports (see my second link) but I'm not sure that it'll do much good.

Well, here it goes.

I've been a limewire user for years, and i've been keeping up with the versions (currently with 4.10.9.) and recently i've come across a cripling problem. My limewire, out of nowhere, pulled a "fatal error" that had something to do with my version of java, which i fixed. That was about a month ago, and since then i havn't been able to connect. It remains on "you are currently connecting to the network", yet it is still downloading a movie i started downloading before this whole fiasco (at up to 50kbps!). I tried everything i could think of, and wound up here.

Here are some of my details:
Windows xp home edition sp2
Limewire 4.10.9
I tried the internet test and it worked just fine.
The bug report said "False"
I have cogeco high speed internet
When i view the "direct connect" tab under search, it says my computer is behind a firewall or router.
My connection status is "leaf" and i have no hosts
I work from a wireless network.

I love limewire, and i would greatly appreciate any sort of help.
And help the guy above me as well!

Good luck everyone,
Jake.

Hey,
Connection status: Leaf
Please help,
Katuz

Connecting as a leaf's fine:D
LW chooses it's ultrapeers, you can't force yourself to be one. To be an u/p you must not be firewalled, have a reasonably fast connection & high uptime. You'll also need to make sure that 'disable ultrapeer capabilities' is not ticked (tools > options > speed).

Can you give us a total description of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
12. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
13. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
