connection problems

i tried to find and delet my preferences file. It does not exist. I launch lime wire (osX), and it says "connecting". I get 1 green bar. Nothing happens. I just purchased lime wire pro.

For OSX preferences are found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

1. Can you tell us about your setup.
2. What brand name & model number(s) of modem/router do you have?
3. Where are you connecting from (home, school, work, etc.)?
4. Do you have any firewalls?

Firewalls & many high speed modems which have a type of internal firewall might be blocking LW from having 'full' access.

These questions apply to both limewirerookie & astrodog !!! ;)

win 98 help

Hello all, I have read through a lot of these posts and have tried all Ideas that i can find and still cannot connect. here is all the info that I know about my system and what I have tried.
+ I am running win 98.
+ I connect with wireless. (there is a antana up on the roof with recever made by "Teletronics International Inc" it says EZBridge ID 11-208, sn00006361. This reciever connects to a small black box 2" x 2" at the back of my computer then plugs into my ethernet card. There is no markings at all on little black box.
+ I have 1.6 gig left on a 12 gig hd
+ I use Zone Alarm as firewall
+ I use MSN for ISP
Here is what I have tried:
+ I just downloaded LW yesterday so I should have the most recent ver.
+ I updated my Java
+ Changed setting on Zone Alarm to allow Limewire.(Zone Alarm dosent list Java as a program trieng to access internet and I know Ihave read that it is one I needed to allow in ZA?)
+ I tried closing out of LW totally, then tried to find the LW prop. dir. but couldnt, so I deleted the LW file in Windows, then reopened no: connection so I wnet back in and file was there again? so I opened it and deleted all things that said .prop. still didnt work.
+ I tried unchecking the box in the tip box. still no connection.
+ I tried it without shereing files and it didnt work.
+ Im not super knowlageable about computers so I dont want try the port forwarding thing cause I tend to do more damage than I started with! Please help, I havent slept for 32 hrs, almost fell off the roof tring to get ant. info for this post, and I think Im going crazy.
Thank you,
Mike

Evertime you delete the LW preferences called .limewire, LW will create a new set as soon as you open it. It holds info such as about our Tools>Options settings so everytime you delete the prefs you'll need to reset these.

You can try: Force IP instructions & sample image within LW.

Go to this webite & tell us what happens (it should say test page was successful): http://www3.limewire.com:6346/

You will need to double-check your zone-alarm. It's been known to cause problems & sometimes unpredictable ones for p2p.

1. Windows 2000 Professional
2. 768kbps Cable, Cox Communications
3. LimeWire Free Edition, 4.2.6

I've tried everything in this damn forum, and not one helps.

Btw, in case it wasn't answered for some people:

Windows 98 / ME: Your .limewire folder is in "C:\My Documents"

Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP: Your .limewire folder is in "C:\Documents and Settings\Username"

Are you aware of problems with Cox? See this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&highlight=cox

1. What firewalls you have,
2. ram, 3. HDD space available,
5. Connection type,
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers

Yes these xtra details can help.

Further to the 1st note about Cox I just did a quick search: http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/56054
& also Google results about Cox's pain inflicting I've read articles myself over the past couple of months but hadn't made any note about them.

HELP!!! Can't connect

I run on MAC OS 9 and up until two days ago my free limewire was running beautiful. I couldn't connect today at all so I bought the pro. Then I came here, dowloaded the MRJ 2.2.5, reinstalled the software several times, deleted the preferences file .limewire.

I connect via cable and again through a router. Router is a wirless-G 2.4 GH Linksys is the brand. I'm kind of stupid when it comes to the router as I have been on a hub up til about a week ago.

I MISS MY LIMEWIRE <<<<BOOO HOOO>>>> Can ANYONE help me?? Please.
