Hi there, I've got WIN XP Pro (disabled firewall) DI-604 router (opened up port 6699) Connects at poor and then disconnects and same thing again. Don't know what the prob might be...i have a cable connection(ussualy download around 250-300kb/s). Any help would be appreciated! :D |
Why port 6699? Your DI-604 is a linksys isn't it? Is it a modem or a router or both. From what I could find it's just a router which suggests you have a separate modem. Anyway, whichever port you choose (LW is set to use port 6346) you will have to set LW to use the same port or vice versa. You will also need to Force IP. See Force IP instructions & sample image And also set theat same port number under LW's port option (see Tools>Options>Advanced> & both Port & Firewall See how you go. :) |
I runing xp professionalwith windows firewall turn off usingMcAfee Internet Security Suite version 6.0: I installed the English version, which wouldn't open are connect. So I uninstalled the English version of LimeWere and installed the international version of LimeWire, which connects and dowloads just fine. This may be of some help to Windows XP users. |
I've changed the ports to limewire's original and changed it in router options as well. And my router is a DLink DI-604. Still doesn't work. I have the pro version as well, shouldn't that be faster? |
Did you use these instructions: Port Forwarding for the Dlink DI-604 & also see other DI-604 issues OR the Port Forwarding for the Dlink DI-604 version 2 Make sure you have a static ip otherwise it won't work next time you use it. Also, make sure you save the settings & reboot your modem. I also have a DLink but different model. If possble use port 6346 for port settings. |
Connection problems Worked for me! 11/23/04 P4 @ 2.8 WIN XP Pro (sp2) I had not been able to connect for some time, and had tried all the tips and tricks in the FAQ, and had even dialogued with the LW Pro support. This worked. Now, we will see if it keeps on working! THANKS |
mac os8.6 connection issues Just upgraded to Limewire Pro 4.02 after not using Limewire for a year or so. Running Mac classic 8.6. After startup, I am apparently not connected, although the "disconnect" option is available under the file menu heading. selecting "disconnect" however does nothing. I tried your suggestion of shutting the application down and dumping the limewire preferences folder. Upon restarting the application, it wlked me through my preference settings. Help! |
Hi yourdaddy Update your Java to MRJ 2.2.5 for OS 8.1-9.2 Even if you already have it, it won't do any harm installing it again. Doing so can often do the trick. And THIS POST is worth reading Yes if you delete your LW prefs you will need to reset all your LW settings. So it's generally a good idea to make a note of them before you trash the prefs. After installing new softw in mac comp's it's always a good idea to re-build your desktop; ie: hold down both the Command (/Apple)+Option keys whilst you restart the comp. Also have you checked your comp over with Disk 1st Aide & defragmented your HDD? What connection devices do you use? What brand name & model number of modem & router do you use? You said you hadn't used LW for a year. Do you still have incomplete files left over from that time? These files might have become stale. The days to complete incomplete option setting in your Options>Saving might mean your incomplete files have become redundant. |
At last - I'm connected!! I'm using Win 98. Went to Options (under tools) took out "connect on startup" and opted for "shutdown immediately", went back to the search area and found I had a green light, and seems all is now OK.;) ;) |
still doesn't work I've tried everything that has been suggested and none of it works! I have windows XP HE and i am on a network at university...When i first started using limewire it worked perfectly fine (after i had added the Gnutella ports etc.) but then it suddenyl decided to...not work! No idea how to solve, any help would be great so it won't feel as though I've used my limited student budget for nothing! Phil |
