my limewire always says busy host when i try 2 dwnload. can someone help me?

Lord of the Rings November 20th, 2005 10:43 PM

Busy host means that the other person is busy ... has no upload slots available. Re-search the file topic at various intervals can help to find more sources. People go on/offline of the network all the time so 30 mins later you may find more sources. Or even 5 mins later.

wahmed, Pro offers free updates & pro support for up to 6 months after purchase. After that your name will drop off their database. If you re-purchase Pro within a (limited) short time after 6 mths you get a discount. But if you didn't purchase it from the official site then your name won't be on their database in the 1st place.

People! I used to have free lime wire and I had broadband connection minus my current wireless router. It worked great! Now, after a year I purchased the LW pro for $18.88 and I can't even connect! Says that I have no internet connection or it is behind a firewall. LW tech support is very slow in responding and is giving me some generic answer about it is not possible for them to know....... make sure Java and LW is excluded from the firewall. I have done all that but no luck! I have Norton firewall! LW is telling me to look at the manual for my Firewall. What? Is any one out there with my situation? Wireless internet connection and Norton and unable to connect! Not one time. Please, help.

Norton & XP's firewall don't work well together. Disable XP's firewall: go to the control panel, double click on Windoze Firewall, check the disable box.

Then *Configuring Norton Internet Security

For those who are having trouble connection to the Gnutella network using LimeWire, we have a potential fix. You need to delete your WHOLE LimeWire preferences directory. The directory can be found in the following locations:

OS X:
/Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

Windows:
C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire

Linux:
~/.limewire

Please shutdown any instance of LimeWire you may have running, delete the whole directory, and then restart LimeWire. You should be able to connect.

I'd love to hear how this works for everyone.

Thanks!

can't connect

NG! Tried this, along with every other suggestion I've gotten on this Forum and still can't connect. In fact, after deleting the Limewire preferences, all I get is the Limewire Pro logo. Before, I was able to download entirely before I got the "Can't Connect" message. Things are going from bad to worse, and Limewire service ddoes not reply at all! Jeez!

More likely AOL. I've heard of many people having connection problems with AOL. And especially their security version. I think they control some of the security from their end so you have no control. I think there's much better isp options out there. BTW AOL uses a spyware program that isn't p2p program friendly. It is a poor choice for a spyware program. It can & does affect LW.

As for Proxy, no it may or may not be affecting things. I guess it depends. Some proxies are very good, some not so. Some don't work for p2p. AFAIK you need to try many proxies before you find one that works with p2p sharing.

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

nick3849 I would recommend re-installing LW (use offline version), Java & deleting your LW preferences (if you have any.) If you're a windows user then see Fixes for Limewire steps 1 & 2.

laddergal2 can you give us some more details about your set up. Earlier in this thread a page or few back a list of questions will be listed that helps us determine what your problem might be.

I just deleted a large no. of pm's but remember seeing one of yours. I can't recall your set up or exact problems. Can you reiterate.
