are you SURE you cant connect? even though a firewall has been detected, you may still connect to the network as a leaf. what does the connection meter say? and what color is it? and how long do you let it connect? have you tried port forwarding your router and setting the manual port forward in advanced options? have you tried different ports to see if anything like your isp maybe filtering or throttling p2p traffic?

a vague statement like "nothing is working" doesnt give us much to work with since there is millions of other people able to use the software rather well.

i let it set there for like 5 mins, it stays red, keeps popping up that i have no connection or a firewall is enabled. i havent done port forwarding or anything. i just dont understand why yesterday it worked fine and now upgrade and have to go through all these problems. ive never had to add any ports or anything the last times ive updated limewire, just this time it seems unwilling to cooperate.

thanks for the help

try changing java from 1.5 to 1.42

LW didn't connect with 1.5 installed but it did with 1.42

to download 1.42 go here

garnettrules21 it's difficult to try to guess your problem if you don't supply any details about your set up. Check back in the thread to see what type of information we need.

lastest setup on everything other than java since i just changed it, windows xp, cable one internet, sp2, 130 gb, 512 ram, all firewalls disabled, added gnutella both ports, made sure lime wire gnutella were in exceptions. nothing on my cpu has changed except for the update of limewire.

So you had LW before & it was working? If yes, then try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Otherwise if this is your 1st use of LW, can you tell us your connection devices brand & model no.'s. Who is your ISP provider?

Did you do this test? Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Another option is to change the port LW uses. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls, & change the listening port from 6346 to another like these 1111, 3500, 4008, 1203, 80, 20282, 10000, 443, 40475.

Ports can be blocked due to ISP blocking, connection devices, etc. Different solutions to each.

i deleted my preferences folder and restarted limewire, went through everything and sure enough that seems to have fixed it.

thank you very much for your help

Connection Failure

Hi

I have tried deleted the preferences folder and purger.jar with no luck.

PowerMac G3 (Sonnet G4 1 GHz processer upgrade), OSX 10.3.9.

I am on a wireless home network.

Thanks

Kalo

kalo it sounds like it might be your wireless set up that's causing an issue. If it doesn't utilise UPnP (Universal Plug & Play) which allows LW to communicate directly with the device to open a port, then you may need to manually forward (open) a port for LW.

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Can you tell us the brand & model no.'s of your connection devices? ie: each one.

Where are you trying to connect from (home, work, school, etc.)?

Are you on a shared connection with other computers?
